theoretical approach

My theoretical approach is Integrative, with special interest and training working from a Cognitive-Behavioural and Transactional Analysis perspective, specialising in Inner Child Work.

I have found truth in all theories I have studied, and will bring these to the counselling process when I feel they best suit you. I do not believe one orientation suits all, and will therefore tailor make my therapeutic approach to meet your individual needs.

You determine your own needs, as I believe you to be the expert on yourself. I bring my expertise to the counselling process, but ultimately you decide what you find useful and what you do not. In this way you need never feel out of control with your personal therapy.

You set the pace by telling me where you wish to go, and I offer guidance in getting there. The speed in which that is done is determined by what feels comfortable for you. The therapeutic relationship needs to be a safe one, in order for you to trust that I will take care with your emotions.
